Our Board of Directors
Mary is a PeriOperative RN, who has worked and specialized in the Operating Room for 33 years. She has enthusiastically transferred that passion and practice globally as a practitioner and educator. Mary has also advocated for children in other countries to come to the U.S. for medical / surgical needs that is not provided in their home country.
Diane Hansen is a long time volunteer working with a variety of health related nonprofits and humanitarian organizations. Besides travelling around the world with medical teams, Diane has devoted much of her life to advocating for children with medical needs - physically, educationally and emotionally - and providing safe and healthy homes for them while they have treatment in the US. She has created many programs in rural areas of Guatemala including a midwife education & support group. In her continuing role as cofounder of a Child's Passport to Health, Diane is committed to supporting continued education for children returning home that otherwise would not have the opportunity, and for finding resources for children with ongoing medical needs once they return home.
Jennifer is a retired attorney who has been involved in non profit organizations for many years. She has a passion for helping children and families, especially in developing areas. Jennifer has worked with and supported health programs in Vietnam, Guatemala and Nepal. She enjoys working with finances, policy and procedure, and logistics.
Allison has spent the last 6 years in the travel and event industry after discovering a love for seeing the world early in life. She comes to the organization with a passion fueled by her visits to orphanages in India and Vietnam and interactions with children in developing countries throughout her travels. Allison looks forward to bringing her creativity and enthusiasm to A Child's Passport to Health as the Organization's Secretary. She hopes to add her talents to assisting fundraising and events also. Allison spends her days raising her three spunky children and enjoys the family life and all the adventures that holds!
Therese (Terry) Martaus is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner and currently works in an Internal Medicine clinic for Providence Health Services. She has over 30 years experience working in health care services. She has led and participated in medical and humanitarian services internationally including Honduras, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Peru, Indonesia, Rwanda, Uganda.
Rebecca has 30 years of experience in health care communications and marketing. In addition to working for hospitals, school districts and charities such as the American Cancer Society, she also has served as a volunteer for a number of non-profits related to health, children and education and most recently served as a board member and then executive director for a national organization providing health care to children. She now brings her experience and passion to A Child's Passport to Health as a board member and public relations advisor.
Shannon's degree and 12+ years experience in Early Childhood Education has inspired her to resume this work with Child's Passport to Health. As the chair for fundraising and social media/website, Shannon is looking forward to promoting and carrying out A Child's Passport to Health's Mission and Goals by improving resources to helping children's health and educational needs. When not looking for fundraising ideas, Shannon is busy taking care of her two very active little girls.
